1. From Paul and Silvanus and Timothy, to the church at Thessalonica that share life with God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

2. We extend the grace and peace of God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ to you.

3. It is so fitting to be always thanking God for what he has done in your lives because your faith just keeps on growing more and more and so does the love that you have for one another.

4. So much so that we talk about you to all the other churches we visit and tell them of your enduring faith through all the persecution and pressure that you go through.

5. This is evidence of Gods true and just way of thinking, to show how rightfully you belong to his kingdom and are willing to go through the suffering which that entails.

6. And it also demonstrates how right and just it is for God to deal firmly with those who have caused you this suffering. 

7. You who are suffering like this will find complete respite and rest from all of this when the Lord Jesus is openly revealed in the heavens when he returns in power with his angels.

8. He will come with fire and settle the score with those who deny God in their thinking and reject the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9. They will suffer eternal ruin and desolation, being denied the shared power and glory of the presence of the Lord.

10. When he will come to share his glory and splendor with all the saints and to be marvelled at by all who believe, including yourselves, because you believed what we had to say.

11. So that is part of our prayer for you, that God would show how much he approves of the way you responded to his invitation to share his kingdom life with him, and partner him in his goodness and power through your faith.

12. In this you give glory to the name of Jesus Christ, and he gives honor to you in return – through the loving goodness of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
